"Well, I can see if she wishes to go with me. I'll leave the decision to her. She's been unsettled enough as it is. I would not cause her further distress." she said gently as she looked at him with a worried look, "She probably hates me." she murmured softly and ducked her head.
"I do understand the psychology of other beings even if I think it a bit odd." she admitted. She never went too far with teasing anyone. It just wasn't her nature. She stretched lightly and sighed softly.
"How could I not be pleased?" the idea seemed alien to her as she looked at him and they kissed. She relaxed as he showed feeling back to her. It was often hard to read his moods, and while she, due to her position, could show him all the affection she wanted, he had to constantly think of what others would think. She knew there were times when he acted indifferent for the sake of the realm and in order to keep her safe. She also knew if she had shown indifference to him it would be frowned upon and leave dangerous questions open.
In the beginning, she'd been the suitably cowed and compliant girl that he had brought home. It had amused the nobility to see her confusion and fear. They liked being able to intimidate others. Eventually they grew bored and she grew bolder, though not so bold as to draw attention in a negative way.
She curled into his embrace and listened to his words, nodding quietly as she heard his cautions to her, "I understand, my love. I will be careful but we need to tell Katia at some point." she said gently. "I don't want to keep this from her. She's already feeling like we don't trust her."
