Dameon's eyes darkened as he thought of the events that had transpired in the last couple of days. First he had met that man in the Petrified Forest and then that same man had tried to "rescue" his wife. So to say that he was on edge was an understatement. He didn't like it when people messed with his family. He didn't like it one little bit. So he had had some of his followers look into this guy...not that there was much to find other than that he was an air dragon and a member of the Brigade, which meant that he was one heck of a fighter. Dameon frowned. As he well knew, any fighter worth their salt wouldn't give up a mission after one or two tries, meaning that he'd have to up his guard on Marina. A part of him hated to do it. He knew how much she hated being cooped up and being under the sleep spell. But it was for her own protection. Dragons were dangerous and unpredictable. If it had been a vampire that was after her, he wouldn't be quite as concerned as he could take care of a lesser vampire quite easily.
Dameon mentally shook off his thoughts. He couldn't be dwelling on what he would do if it was a vampire. He was facing a dragon. He needed to focus on that. Well, that and talk to Marina and see where her head was at. He had to make sure that his power over her wasn't weakening or that her angel side was growing stronger. If she ever decided I was too much of a monster and ever left me.... the vampire thought. No! He would not let that happen! All right, Dameon. Just think he told himself. Then, footsteps broke his reverie and he turned towards the sound.
