With the amount of children in their line it was almost expected that eventually something would go wrong. All of her sisters were beautiful and bright Fae who bowed to the Seelie court and did as they were told. Every single one the same, gorgeous to everyone in their realm, it wasn't until she came along that the chain was broken. While Duvessa was not ugly by any means her family found her to be so with her dark hair and brown wings she was not the classic example of the families beauty. Some assumed that perhaps it was a curse, a misfortune that had befallen the family and in shame they tried to cover it up. Yet Duvessa embraced the fact that she was different and used it to define herself.

It was because of such superficial reasons that she was abandoned to live by herself. Unlike most happy stories she was never found by people who wanted to take her in. In fact the only reason she truly survived was due to her own magic and help from the magical creatures in the forests. Duvessa raised herself from a young girl and with that came many challenges that she had to overcome. One of those challenges was overcoming the lack of proper fae social interactions. While she did encounter her own kind (fairies) often enough she never really bothered to approach them as she felt that she had nothing in common with them. They tried to cultivate the land and please the courts while Duvessa preferred to play cruel pranks on people and taunt those around her.

At first her tricks were all about cruelty and the hatred she felt for the way her family treated her. Yet as time went on she fell into the trickster niche and found it to be fun. For years she tricked other Fae even as they wandered into her domain until she realized it was much harder and moved on to humans only. It was at this point a young Duvessa was seduced by the human world and all of the sin it brought with it. Of all the places she could have chosen her first adventure into mortal dens was in Mythregal. It was there that she learned that it was easy to prey on the desperate, the lustful, and the rich for anything she needed to make it in their world. For at least thirty years she lingered in Mythregal preying on the weak minded until she was confronted by another of her kind; her own sister (though she had no idea).

A battle raged on between her and her sister over the sloppy nature in which Duvessa hunted here. In the end Duvessa was forced to make a deal to leave Mythregal and never return. Being Fae she was forced to uphold her end of the deal and so she migrated to Arnul which was a land almost equally as easy of a mark as Mythregal was. Once settled her she would find that it was a strange haven to demons from other realms and other creatures. Once or twice she'd even battled a hunter or two here due to the larger concentration of supernatural beings. This is where she made her home however and would remain here for the next hundred or so years until the present day.

Over the course of the years she would gain a reputation for herself as a demon who lives in the woods of Arnul, stories spread by younger wolves. A certain portion of the wood remains to this day untraveled for the sake of avoiding the trickster "witch" in the woods yet older wolves know better what she truly is.
