The Best (and Worst) of Both Worlds

Hybrids, those who come from parents of different species, are consider to be one of the perplexing and terrifying sights. Most tend to consider them taboo, no one truly knowing what their weaknesses, and limits are. Generally Hybrid children tend to take on the traits of the more dominant species, though sometimes this cannot be truly determined so the features blend together. Some hybrids shift into one species form, some look human with enhanced abilities, others simply change color.

Just as their features tend to be random, so too do their strength, and weaknesses if they even have them. Hybrids are few and far in between but the ones that have been recorded tend to demonstrate terrifying abilities beyond that of the parent species. Even their weaknesses have the ability to be entirely different, such as a Wolf/Vampire hybrid could be resistant to silver and sunlight. This is what makes them taboo and generally outlawed; figuring out how to kill one before it kills you is usually unlikely once they discover their powers.

Hybrids can be created through normal means or they can be created by magical means. Infusing living tissue with the abilities of other species, no simple task, has also been shown to yield results in the past however it is an operation the Brigade alone has perfected. Hybrids that are born naturally tend to show stronger abilities and resistances than artificially created ones simply because they've had the time to mature and develop their abilities with age.

When a hybrid has a gift from one parent they will often have a curse from another since they are the planets way of keeping balance. Sometimes this can be useful other times it can drive the hybrid mad.

Their only true problem in this world is that they tend to fit in with neither species, making them outcasts. On top of this, they tend to avoid each other out of confusion, distrust, and fear of being shunned by even their own kind. Hybrids can be sterile depending on their parentage. Mental instability can be a factor with hybrids depending on their parentage.

Hybrid Powers:

• Mutation: The creation of a new ability from the abilities of the parents. This ability is often an advancement of the powers that are its base.
• Immunity: Hybrids have sturdier immune systems than their parents and thus may be partially immune to their parents weaknesses.
• Durability: The ability to handle damage easier than most. Hybrids seem to have an innate resiliency.
• Mother's Blessing (or Curse):A gift (or weakness) from the mother's side of the parental pairing.
• Father's Blessing (or Curse): A gift (or weakness) from the Father's side of the family.
