The dark castle of the Vampiric Royal Family loomed over the lands of Sylthanis upon the tallest mountain in the region. The land was poisonous to many types of species. It was certainly a perfect defense mechanism that benefitted the undead legions that lived within. Corvin even had a private mansion within these lands, and it was usually what kept the Brigade from learning about Corvin’s criminal activities. However, Corvin was not here to broker with the king on lending him a vampire assassin, or discuss the plans of the other countries with the King. No, he was here to warn Vlad. Not that there was much of anything that could potentially harm the king, but Corvin knew that he was still vying for control of the portals. Control over them would give Vlad an ever-eternal edge over his enemies. With Samael’s rise among Dragon-kind, and already proving formidable in combat despite a massive loss of power, he had to inform Vlad. The Kruziik Hun’Drog, as the dragons call Samael, was already considered by many of dragon-kind to be an ancient bedtime story when they first arrived on Yalanze, and it was amazing that there was someone that Corvin considered to possibly be as old as Vlad if not older.
This was something that Corvin had hoped to postpone for later, in hopes of waiting to see if Lidija would manage to stop Samael before he recovered even one of the four stones that the Hun’Drog needed to return to power. There was so much lore on the details behind Samael’s banishment, and a lot of it was guarded against the eyes of Seers that could see into the past. However, the most popular story, the one a dragon once told Corvin before he skinned the reptile alive for his hide, was that Samael’s power had grown to a point of concern with their gods, so the Celestial Dragons were sent to destroy Samael. In the end a vast number of Celestials died, and Samael’s power was siphoned and placed into four stones, given to the Elders of each clan to use to rule. The original plan was to warn Lidija immediately and assist her in stopping Samael.
This was not to say that she was out of the picture, no. She was pivotal in assisting Corvin, but for now, he needed the assistance of Vlad, himself. Rarely, he would have Leann accompany him, but with Matilda’s emergence again in the world, Corvin knew that it would be only a matter of time before the psychotic witch tried to find her way to Samael, and possibly try and help him in his cause. Potentially all in a bid to get the Mad Dragon to set his sights on Corvin, only if to set Matilda’s rival ablaze. If he was going to see that witch’s head on a pike, then who better to assist his effort than the Impaler, himself?
Upon teleporting to the courtyard, Corvin and Leann were approached by the guards, who fell upon them like silent shadows before their visages were seen in the moonlight. He did not know the emotional state of Leann at the moment, but Corvin was less than impressed by the guards. “A simple walk up and greet would do, gentlemen…” Corvin spoke with a raised eyebrow as if the guards had not seen Corvin countless times over the years, “Is King Vlad awake? I am here with an urgent message that he needs to hear.” At once, the guards escorted Corvin and Leann to the throne room, and immediately, he could smell the Queen’s familiar scent. To everyone else, she probably smelled lovely, but to Corvin, he always found her scent oddly disturbing. Of all the dark secrets that he knew, that was one thing he never understood.
“Now Leann, do not speak unless spoken to, understand?” Corvin asked rhetorically as they walked with the guards to the throne room, “Your Master has a lot to discuss with Lord Vlad. I may beckon you to share your knowledge with him, but only when I say so.” Although he spoke like a father to her in public, when it was just the two of them, he was abusive to her in every way imaginable. Once, Corvin forced her to shift into her bat form, only to put her in a cage covered in pictures of her former charge, Jonah. Her shrieks were sweeter than the music that Corvin played throughout that weekend.
As they entered the meeting room, a guard positioned himself between Corvin and the door, a usual gesture for until Vlad arrived to see him.
