If killing Tilda was going to have been this easy, then he would have set Leann on her long ago. Corvin was surprised that she was even capable of such power still, and yet her link to the void within him proved powerful. Even now, when she had just minutes ago vowed to kill Corvin, she was still ever the loyal Familiar to him. It almost made him want to reward her. The thought crossed Corvin’s mind as he looked at Matilda on the ground, so hapless. Perhaps he would restore another fond memory to Leann about her former charge. For the life of Corvin, he could not recall the man’s name, but he knew that Leann did.
Corvin was about to bring his cane down on Matilda’s back, preparing to either beat her to death, or into submission. Whatever came first in Corvin’s mind. However, she stopped the cane mid-way, and began to stand. “Cute trick Tilda,” Corvin began, “but you’ll hav-” Before Corvin could finish, he was knocked back by a blast from Tilda that he had not expected. She had actually managed to bypass his basic antispell runes. Not the most powerful of rune, but it always managed to catch many enemy witches by surprised. Corvin and Leann both used them frequently, but stronger beings normally did not have to worry about the runes around Corvin. Normally, it was his power that they had to worry about.
At this point, Corvin was sure that Matilda was furious, but as injured as Leann made her, she probably launched all of her payload into the attack against him. Corvin shot back up, unsheathing the knife from his cane as he looked at Matilda. He was ready to slit her throat from shoulder to shoulder, up until she vanished from the house. “Skin you alive later…” he growled as his scars from the attack healed up. Corvin had “borrowed” Leann’s power of healing from his ability to manipulate powers through touch. He secretly copied the power to use in preparation of arriving in the homeland of the Fire Dragons. However, now, with Matilda’s return, Corvin knew that he would have to accelerate certain plans instead.
“Leann, collect yourself,” he said as he walked up to her limp body that was clearly affected from Matilda’s attack, “we’re going to the Royal Palace of Sylthanis instead. It’s time to accelerate certain plans.”
