What Dreams May Come (Christopher)

[Mari]

It had been a long day, she'd spent most of it teaching students how to shield from a mage attack on the off chance they ran into a vampire mage or someone who wasn't on the side of the brigade. This meant not only showing them how to shield but launching attacks at them to see how strong their defenses were. In the end Merry was beat. After she'd changed into her pj's she'd fallen into a deep sleep she would not be easily roused from.

Her body was exausted and her mind didn't want to think or plan any more. All she wanted to do was get a decent amount of rest. Her second in command was in charge for the next few days while she regained her strength. Training that many recruits took a lot of power and she could not have done it alone. Her hair pooled around her in a riot of curls as she slept in the rumbled bed from where she'd thrown herself.

With luck she'd be back to her old self in a few days. At least that was what she hoped before she was out like a light.

Chris crawled over her sleeping form. He was wearing an all black shut. He moved his hand over her eyes. And phased out of the real world and into her mind. Chris had crawled his energy back to her place as something pulled at him. But once inside her mind, the pull was gone.

The dark club was packed as people in leather danced around on the dance floor and in cages high above. The music throbbed through out the place as torches on the wall was the only light.

Chris hid in the crowd watching and waiting.

[Mari]

Merry found herself in a club dancing alone, her body swaying to the beat in her little black dress and stiletto heels. Feeling the pulse of the music move through her she moved through the dance floor with ease, her brown hair shining in the lights and her makeup flawless as she enjoyed the moment.

Here there were no students to train or reports to write. No one would die if she didn't teach them something as far as she knew it was just the music and her. Giving herself over to it she twirled and spun gracefully. Light as air and caught up in the hypnotic beat. The dance floor was cool as fans blew over the fast moving crowd and lights shimmered around them.

He watched her dance. She was so beautiful to watch. But he could not take being so far from her. "Merry," He whispered her name, giving her a quick glimpse of him in the crowd then disappeared again. "Merry," He said again as he stayed hidden. The he appeared on a throne on the stage in the front of the dance floor. He watched her closely. She was the only one that mattered. He held out a hand for her to join him on stage.

He knew once this dream was over he would be in trouble. This was the last bit of energy he had left. He could not think of a better way to spend it.

[Mari]

Furrowing her brow in confusion she tried to focus on Chris but he seemed to like teasing her with glimpses of himself. Her head darted about a bit as she paused in her dancing to focus on him.

When he finally did appear on a throne on the stage and she blinked. Pausing a moment she moved up the stage gracefully, the click of her heels unheard as she made her way over to him, "What are you doing here, Chris?" she asked him in confusion as she looked about in puzzlement. Trying to determine if this was his decision or hers. Her hair curling about her shoulders and over her back as she moved and the light danced around them.

"I had to come back to you," He said taking her by the hand. "I got pulled from you by something. This was the only way to reach you. We need to talk."

Chris lead Merry in the backstage area and into what looked like a dressing room. He shut the door behind her. Silence filled the air. He took a seat on a red Victorian sofa. "I remember the first time I saw you. I had wondered in the training area. You were busy in a class. I was so nervous I knocked a stack of papers off your desk. That was me, sorry."

He had to tell her how he felt. For the first time since he had been a ghost he was scared. He had never been this low on energy.

[Mari]

She was even more confused by his words as she followed him to a dressing room with a victorian sofa and sat across from him in a matching chair, her form lady like as she sat and paused to make sure she understood what he was saying, "Why were you nervous?" she asked puzzled as she tried to piece together his words.

This whole situation was confusing to her she didn't know why he had to say any of this. He'd been around her for a few months and the 38 year old witch was confused as to why he had to confess things to her now. "Why are you saying all this?"

"Cause I don't have any energy left." he said with his head down. "What ever pulled me from you left me with barley any. And used that to be with you." He looked up sadly. "When the dream is over and you awake. I might be over as well. And I have to tell you that I love you before that happens."

He looked at her, he fought hard to not let his fear show but he failed.

[Mari]

To say she was stunned was an understatement. She knew he had gotten attatched to her but wasn't sure of the nature of that feeling. Now to find out he had taken the last of his energy to tell her he loved her made her eyes well up with unshed tears, "Chris, you shouldn't have. You need that energy." she murmured softly.

Exhaling she bit her lip, "We've got to find something you can tap to gain energy from. A lay line, something. You can't just fade away. Its not right." her jaw was set and she was determined to help him as she looked him over and began to think on how to save this situation. Each moment they spent in this dream drained him. He needed help and it was her job to help him. He had come to her and that made it her problem.

She glanced around the room and sighed trying to figure out if she was controlling this dream or he was. It was too hard for her to tell. She was so exhausted that she couldn't focus. There had to be something they could do. There just had to be.

Chris watched Merry frantically think of a way to save him. But the only thing on his mind was her. He stood and grabbed her shoulders. He was trying to stop her. He lifted her to her feet. "I need you. When you awake find me. What ever bit of me is left. And take it to the portals. And yes I should have done it. Cause I get to do this." His lips meet hers as he held her around the waist. Feeling her only made his desire to be human burn brighter. If he lasts that is.

[Mari]

She stopped talking and stared at him as she heard him tell her to find what was left of him and to bring him to the portals. She nodded her head in understanding, her curls bouncing as she looked up at him with her deep brown eyes. She had been pulled to her feet and stood there a millisecond before he kissed her.

She felt his lips touch hers gently and she kissed him back. Warmth from his touch filling her as she pressed up against him lightly and wrapped her arms around him instinctively. Her eyes closing as she drifted on this moment with him. Alone and away from the crowds and the noise.

He wasn't sure if she felt the same way. He was half expecting to get slapped. But when he felt her kiss him back his ghostly life seemed to fall into place. He returned the kiss focusing on her touch. But stopped suddenly. He could feel himself get weaker. The room flashed for a moment. He would not last much longer.

"Just remember I love you and this is worth it." He grabbed her lifting her off her feet and gentle lying her down on the sofa, kissing her deeply. as he laied on her. It had been toure not been able to touch her, and now that he could. But it was still a dream.

He rubbed his hand down her back as he kissed her neck, making every moment, every second count.

[Mari]

He broke off the kiss and she gasped, a flush to her cheeks as she looked at him and nodded then he was sweeping her off her feet and they landed in the cushions with a gentle thud. She felt him shift to get more comfortable and the rest faded into a pleasurable haze as he kissed her neck.

After what seemed like hours, but may have actually been shorter, she opened her eyes and looked at him. She was curled into him and there was a blanket wrapped around them both. Caught in that hazey half dream bliss she smiled and purred contentedly as she looked at him. Her brown hair falling carelessly in her eyes as she tried to push it away.

Chris held her tightly as his smile faded. "Just for this moment your mine," he whispered bushing her hair with his hand.
He knew this was it. She had to wake up and he had to, well he was unsure.

He still did not know why he was a ghost or why he was not one of the other "worker" ghost who guarded the gates. A witch killed him, he knew that now but still so many more questions to answer. At this point he thought they would never get known.

"You have to wake up now." He sat up and moved his arm off her. Looking at her made it harder. "Please, I need you." He kissed his lips to hers. Then broke apart. His face shown a thousand emotions as he looked at her.

"Wake up."

She smiled softly and looked up at him, she was too sleepy for words and didn't want to move. She curled into him more and sighed, "That was nice." she purred softly as she rested next to him.

"I don't want to wake up." she said softly then kissed him back when he kissed her, with a soft sigh the dream faded and she woke up in her room and looked for a trace of him. Tired and confused. Was all of that real or not? Was she just lonely or did she have a task to do? She sighed and tried to think but was too exhausted as she laid there and tried to find a comfortable spot. Yawning sleepily.
